Learning Learning

The last couple months (during my lack of blogging) have really been times of learning for Kai. I think he must learn something new every day and it's really cool to see.

Just yesterday, he was so close to crawling that I got out my camera to get video if he did. He has learned to roll over both ways, then turn himself around on his stomach, then bring himself up on all fours and crawling will be next. It's so interesting to watch him try different things and improve his technique.

He's also starting to learn to wave. I don't think he knows what hello and bye-bye are yet, but if I wave, he'll often copy me.

Kai's also talking a lot more. He's really good at the one-syllable "ba" "blah" and "ma" and he's using his voice a lot more.

In the last couple months, we've added some new foods like chicken and beef, as well as more chewable foods like Cheerios and arrowroot cookies. I am looking forward to him being able to eat more solid foods, or to try things off my plate, but I really love feeding him human food, even pureed.

Oh, and one favourite activity now is peek-a-boo. When he was a couple months old, I tried peek-a-boo and he cried, but now he loves it and will hold up almost anything in front of his face to hear us say "where's Kai?" so he can pull it down and we'll say Peek-a-boo!

Riding on his car is also a huge favourite. He loves the sounds and songs and is really enjoying being mobile before he even crawls.

Kai will be 8 months in just a couple days, which is really exciting. I'll be going back to work in 2 months, which is both sad and exciting. The last couple weeks have been tough for me at home. Even though Kai is much more animated and fun, it's been harder to keep him interested and lonely for me being at home. I'm having to be very intentional about leaving the house, otherwise I go a bit crazy. For that reason, work will be a nice change in the day and hanging out with Kai in the evening will be such a special time. On the other hand, I'm really going to miss seeing him all day and watching him learn.

Here's Kai's 7 month photo since I missed it and the 8 month one will go up soon.
