Mmmmmmm!

I've learned that with a baby, intuition is everything. I certainly have no training in this, but it seems to be true that we (for the most part) inherently figure out what to do. And what we can't figure out, we find on the Internet or from friends or family.

So for the last couple weeks we've been feeling like Kai is ready to start some more advanced eating. He still seems a bit hungry when he's done nursing and he's always staring at our food when we eat. At his 4-month check up, the doctor confirmed that we can start with rice cereal anytime.

November 30 was the big night. We bought some rice cereal and mixed it up with some breastmilk. The cereal itself doesn't smell very nice, I can't imagine what it will smell like when it comes out later.

As with most babies, Kai wasn't super stoked about the food, but he opened his mouth whenever the spoon came near and swallowed at least some of it. Most of it seemed to end up on his bib, but it was a good effort. Here are the results:

How can you not love this baby??

  1. From Kai's face, this looks like it will have to be an acquired taste!
