And there went half his life

So a year and a half later, I remembered this little blog. I've certainly not had a shortage of things to post, but between Facebook photos and Instagrams and a busy little toddler, the blog almost seems redundant.

But then I came on and was looking back at old posts that are so fun to read and I thought I should post again.

Kai is 3 so I now haven't written anything here for half his life...that's a lot of time to make up!

What can I say? Kai is the best! He is happy and chatty and busy. And he remembers everything. Tell him you'll give him a cookie two weeks from Thursday and you better have that cookie because he'll call you on it.

He loves Cars and Planes and all the little diecast figures that go with the movies. We took him to see Planes: Fire & Rescue for his birthday this year, which, no surprise, he loved, so now we're collecting all the new characters too.

We are even seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with potty training. I was getting frustrated because it was taking him so long to show any interest and he wouldn't tell us when he had to go, because who wants to stop playing to sit on the potty? Finally, we just switched to underwear and that seemed to be the right move. Oh, and his potty chart–stickers every time he uses the potty, which he redeems for play money, which he redeems for toys. Bribery is our friend.

Kai is already excited about going to school, even though it's still a year away. I'm not sure what he thinks will happen there, but he's ready to go and points out the school every time we drive by, which is twice a day.

This summer we spent a ton of time at the Elmvale Zoo with our season's passes now that we live 5 minutes away. He just loves animals. Especially baby animals. On rainy days we just walk around the pet store and he's perfectly happy with that. He doesn't ask if we can bring any of the animals home, oddly enough.

For his third birthday, I took it easy on the elaborate themes and we had a picnic in the park. It was perfect. So easy for me and so fun for him.

He's still an amazing sleeper and is a moderately good eater, though meal times are most certainly the toughest in our house. Kai is fearless. He will climb anything remotely climbable, including Mom & Dad, but will settle down to snuggle and watch a movie whenever we'll allow it.

Like I said, he's the best.
