18 months – time for a haircut

Kai wasn't born with a ton of hair on his head so we've gone a lot longer than most without cutting his hair. He just looked so cute with his long hockey hair that curled up when he got hot. But eventually it started turning into more a a mane and we knew it was time. Here he is in his 18 month picture: (poor guy wasn't feeling awesome that day. Thanks to daycare, he's had some level of cold all winter, but he's a trooper)

His hair is adorable, but on the long side.

So we were heading to Mississauga for Sandra's birthday anyway and decided to make a day of it. I found a fun kids' hair salon online called Sharkey's that had a "Baby's First Haircut" package designed just for suckers like me. It was $3 more than the regular cut and included a little certificate and a photo and his first lock in a bag (I still haven't figured out the deal with keeping hair).

He got to sit in a Hummer and watch Bob the Builder while the lady very efficiently cut his hair. I would not have been that confident with a pair of scissors and moving toddler.

I won't say Kai loved the experience, but he did really well (with a little distraction) and his haircut looks great. He's such a little boy now.

Also, in the last month or so, Kai has started putting words together like "Hi puppy" or "mah abudah (more apple juice)" or even "ma orn peas (more orange please)". He's also started saying goodnight to mama, dada, ahah (his monkey stuffed toy) and horsey. It's so fun watching him learn!
