Before Kyler was born, AJ made the suggestion that we use cloth diapers, which I immediately laughed at until I realized he was serious. Like a good wife, I eventually agreed to at least consider it. He had friends corner me and tell me how great they were and sent me all kinds of links raving of the benefits – better for the environment, just as easy to use as disposables, far less expense, better for baby's little bottom, etc.
I looked into it more and realized that cloth diapers aren't the blankets and safety pins that they use to be, they're really sophisticated and actually really cute. And the clincher: AJ does all the laundry. So I gave in.
Several people told me I was crazy, others said I wouldn't last a week dealing with dirty diapers that I can't just toss in the trash and I had my doubts too. But it's like everyone says, when it's your kid, it really doesn't bother you all that much.
We're 2 months in to the cloth diapers and I'm really happy with our choice. We have had zero cases of diaper rash, there's been no running to walmart in the middle of the night because we're on our last diaper, Kai looks super cute in them, and I'm pretty sure we've already re-couped our costs had we been buying disposables.
So, here it is in writing for the first, and possibly last time: AJ was right. And I love that he helps me try new things.
