We're having a baby!

On October 29, 2010, AJ and I found out that we're having a baby! We had been thinking that we were probably almost ready for this next step in life so we left the possibility open to chance and it happened much faster than we expected.

I told AJ the night I found out and his reaction was not what I had expected. In discussing our family plans over the last couple years, AJ always warned me that he would probably freak out when I got pregnant, so I had prepared myself for the worst. I expected he would stare at me for a second, then maybe grab his keys and take a couple hour drive to work things out in his head. Instead he just said "oh, ok." Maybe a little shocked for a moment? And then gave me a hug and told me he was excited.

It took me a couple days before I realized he wasn't going to freak out. Actually, I was the one who freaked out a little the next day. He said he had already come to terms with the idea, whenever it ended up happening and was now just excited the time was here.

So, we're having a baby!

I'm due June 30, 2011, which I'm pretty excited about. I won't have to go through too much of the summer heat being very pregnant, which I've heard horror stories about.

So, that would make me currently just over 8 weeks pregnant and so far so good. I'm extraordinarily tired all the time and stomach-growling-hungry at about 2-hour intervals. But I think I've been very lucky as far as morning sickness goes. No throwing up, although I do have a heightened gag reflex at some strange things - like opening the fridge and seeing all the food in there. Sometimes I just can't do it. But I really can't complain - I haven't had my head over the toilet or had to run out of meetings at work and give myself away.

The plan is to tell our families at Christmas and friends after that. I can't believe how hard that is already. I just want to tell everyone so others can share in our excitement!

The url for this blog is "My Baby You'll Be," which comes from the Robert Munsch book "Love You Forever." I love that book and think the sentiment applies pretty well to a pregnancy/baby/child blog.

Through the blog, AJ and I will keep everyone posted on progress, photos and updates along this huge and exciting journey into parenthood. Thanks in advance to everyone for their support and we already can't wait to meet the little baby God has given us!
